One month down... 1000+ to go
Whew! Our firstborn Sean Alexander Dalzell is almost a month old, though at times WE feel several years older than we are! He's sleeping, eating, and eliminating as he's supposed to (according to the Doc). We've just recently (around week 3.5) run into the first bout of colic (we think), which makes him a bit of a puzzle. Havin
g an occasionally inconsolable baby is the most difficult challenge we've faced thus far (hence the Homer Simpson imitation at right). We rock him, burp him, bounce him, feed him, change him (& repeat)... a crazy cycle that causes loss of sleep (and sanity) at times. But amid all the frayed ends there are many beautiful moments. My recent favourite (partly because it solves his gas problems) is to have Sean sleep on my chest. Nothing like a little warm bundle snuggled under your chin... reminds me of Ban
dit (though he was a BIG bundle)!!At four weeks Sean's personality is still a mystery (duh). Physically he is a strong little guy who has a serious case of the "Jimmy-arms" (Seinfeld reference). He was like this the moment he came out of Mama's belly... arms flailing and in need of restraint!
Slowly but surely he is w
aking up to the world around him. The 20 inch radius around his face is beginning to fascinate him, which is fun. All those fancy mobiles spinning around his head are starting to pay off (thanks Monica!)!So far Kaylee (Bandit's successor) is cautiously curious about our new arrival. She is very gentle around him, limiting herself to a gentle sniff and small lick on the cheek. Once he's covered in mashed peas we expect the relationship to evolve to the next level!

Heartfelt thanks to all those who sent well-wishes and generous gifts. Special thanks to our visitors who have welcomed Sean to the world in person.
Coming soon... pictures of Mom and Sean. Our camera broke just as we were setting up a session! Time for a nap...
